Why some people will never hope to be wealthy; poor habits get them down

Be better than before, than yesterday...

Last Sunday, a neighbor passing by in front of our house saw me while I was sweeping leaves on the road in front of the house.   She mentioned of another neighbor who needs 6 numbers in loan.  This post chided her for always taking up business on the street not much different from a taho vendor.   I said I will relate this to the people who know that aspect of the business.   And so I did.

It was a day before the estate tax amnesty deadline so we had to move fast.  I tried to have the parties update me on the said transaction.   The other neighbor who needed the loan:    1.  Did not present the documents   2.  Did not show up    3.  Said they were willing to pay up to 5% per month.  We would charge 2% at most per month

It was reported that the proponent had a pares business at 3rd floor of a building (and therefore incurred huge losses) and was paying sky high rent.   The loan proceeds would just be used to pay off another loan (bad).  The ownership of the property being used as security is not theirs being adopted  (the parents are childless and they were two adopted  -  trouble ahead)    The property is intestate and would probably pay huge penalties

Some people will remain poor:

1.  For lacking etiquette in doing business;

2.   Some people lack clarity and would like to go on transaction that are unclear and would result in

      misunderstanding in the future.

3.   Greed and selfishness persist

4.   People make poor choices that is why they will remain poor

Politicians not interested in livelihood or generating revenues?

It is about getting better..

This post attended a meeting with my relatives and an in law who is just elected legislator.   the idea being to get him intested in a livelihood program for his constituents.

One of the objectives is to get the properties of my uncle overtaken by squatters to be made productive through some of the govt programs:    forest farming, or the timber or bamboo farming. 

But the lawyer, lawmaker doesnt have the spark in my view to go into business.  He just wants to go by the trajectory of legal - to be a judge.  He has deep roots in the brotherhood of FRRD .

He said he would study the various programs, and this post hopes he does.

Encouragement of livelihood vs ayudas

It is about getting better...

Is the Philippines going to the path of socialist state.  There is no shortage of projects that aim to make people work less and be dependent on dole outs:    AKAP, AICS, 4ps, the seniors universal pension.  Less and less of initiative, industry and determination if being asked from citizens.  Thus we are danger of losing supporters of the nation due to decreasing number of taxypayers (remember the tax exemption of factory workers, low wage earner is P200,000.  So what do we resort to:

     1.  Increasing burden of taxpayers - they paying more

     2.  Borrowing

And for the latter we complain that our future generations are all ready drowning in debt even before they are born  We are, our government is asking for this situation    Wise fiscal management and governance have escaped the heads of our honorable statesman  

The govt is supposed to lead the country, provide stable policies, peace and order, but not a super ordinte ATM   Wherever they get the idea for the latter.

Business taxpayer bear the burden for development.    We need investments, factories, productive enteprises, not ayudas.   etc.

Secrets for making money (its all about habits and mindsets)

It is about getting better...

Having more money is the result of your mindset, attitude about money.  

If your are generous, you will be generous with money.  

If you think money is bad, source of all evil, then you will sabotage money making

1  Money is tool, is a means to achieve things.  Not an enemy, or a problem   Money should be your ally.

2.  Time is worth more than money   You can recover money, but not time (So that you must use money to buy time)  Make more money by using less time.     We only have 24 hours a day.    We must know how to use time wisely.  

3.  Invest in yourself:   education, training, skills.  Not in cars house, luxury.     Never stop learning, improving.  If you improve, more php comes as a result.  

Start changing your mindset.

1.  Be thankful

2.  Invest time in self improvement.   Even if it is little

Leadership and being a self starter, less or 0 follow up

It is about getting better...

I am very senior now and my expectation in business is that I am done after long years of mentorship, with follow up and getting fired up and kicking ass.  This post expect the junior, now turning to seniors to exercise and practice leadership

I expect my subordinates to:

1.  Make recommendations for sound judgement and have weighed options all ready for decision;

2.   At their initiatives, fdollow up their timelines and contractors, without need for me to do the follow up

3.   Me not repeating many times procedures that need to be followed.

4.   Having the discipline for clarity and goals.

That is not happening yet.... Many lack determination and discipline

Health is wealth; why keeeping fit as an executive and/or entrepreneur is very important

It is about getting better...

Yesterday, this post scheduled a regular updating meeting at 4 pm.   One of the participants came in a bit later and he was limping.    About 2 weeks ago, we met with a business partner in Antipolo and after that he fell ill and afterwards, this seemed to have triggered a gout flare up and he was not well.  This post scheduled a meeting last Thursday, which he said he could not attend and had to reschedule this today.

Really health is wealth.  You need healthy mind and body to run a business. You cant think well, function well iif you are ill.

Invesst in good food exercise, relaxation, good night rest.    Be well.

Is it Ok to be selfish of your business knowledge?

It is about getting better...

We have an officer who shares his pressmatt being sent to me to the other party in a business deal.  I told him to be wary of such sharing.  When they learn of the numbers, they would be more prepared for counter attack and/or leave us at the table.

Is all right to keep certain things secret in a nego or give all.  Information knowledge is a resource and it can t just be shared.  

This guy a former businessmen, changed ways after he worked in the govt

A relative was ranting about his former business colleague whose ways changed after he worked in a free port.   It seems that his MO now is to get big people get on a deal, and get his fees up front.  An investment banker, or an influencer who always goes CIA. (Cash in Advance)

He now does not want to deal with the guy.

He is now out of the govt and back as private citizen.  Would you do business with this guy?

Would you do the same and be a traitor to your country

My uncle and I were discussing a citizen who has plenty of money.  He was reported to have sold 3 mountain sites to foreigners, who excavated the soil to be made into artificial islands  near his province.  They were built to be military installations, and firmed their claims on these islands.  

If you had such lands would you do the same?

Would you commit such treachery?  (On the other hand you are very very richhhhh!
