Feeling that post-holiday stress yet?

As we make our way back into our offices, homes, and normal life, chronic stress can really begin to take its toll.

Don't forget: the holidays "create" stress as well as fun times... and your body "processes" that stress for weeks afterwards.

But here's the really BAD news:

Research published a few days ago in the Journal of Cardiology reveals that your chronic, daily stress (just "normal living" in today's world) is WORSE for your heart than SMOKING 4 cigarettes a day...

... and EQUAL to smoking 5.

The Columbia University Medical Center found that people who said they felt chronic stress ("anxious" or "overwhelmed" were the two most common issues)
were 27 percent more likely to suffer a heart attack.

That's a HIGHER risk than smoking 3-4 cigarettes a day.

Now, here's the GOOD NEWS:

In case you missed it, I introduced you last week to Dr. Holly Lucille -- a woman Dr. Oz called "THE expert on stress", and a pioneer in the field of natural,
effective stress relief and prevention.

With all the new data coming out on stress -- how it is simply THE number one killer, and how it also contributes to your fatgain in a major way -- it's time to take action.

Fortunately for you, that "time" is ... about 7 minutes long.

Dr. Lucille's "7 Minute Stress Solution" is the absolute easiest way to calm anxiety and ease your feelings of overwhelm and fatigue.

When supplemented by her breakthrough stress relief, protection, and feel-good formula, Relacil, the effects are drastically better...

And this all happens for you in 7 short minutes.

You owe it to your health and your peace of mind to visit Holly's Solution page, here:

>>>How you can DESTROY stress in just 7 minutes

Look, I'm not bashing hour-long meditation sessions, or workouts to help ease stress. I'm a big believer in both...

But let's face facts:  few of us have TIME to do that every day... yet we ALL have 7 minutes.

That's why Dr. Lucille's new Program is such a hit with my readers -- it's short, to-the-point, and it simply works.

If you visit the special page below, you'll ALSO have the chance to claim a FREEE bottle of Dr. Lucille's Relacil Stress Relief Formula. 100% natural, without
addictive or nasty side effects whatsoever...

>>>How you can DESTROY stress in just 7 minutes

Here's to your awesome (and stress-FREEE) New Year!
Rob

P.S.  Let me remind of you something very important:

Most of us are making New Years resolutions... and most of us are going to make a promise to our self to drop those unwanted lb this year...

However, this will NEVER happen when stress is in high gear. Your nervous system shuts down, taking all the fatburning hormones with it...

PLUS you make more of the fat-storing hormone, cortisol.

It's a double-whammy.

That's just another reason you should make stress management your TOP priority...

...and now you can get it done in just 7 minutes.

That's 7 minutes a day to help ensure your health, your peace of mind, AND your fatloss goals.

Go here, and watch Dr. Oz talk about Holly's stress relief protocol...

What is as bad as drunken driving? Texting with hands or hands free!

From Atlantic Cities | Eric Jaffe

A new law was passed in California that allowed texting hands free receiving and sending by voice activation. Studies however suggests that driver's performance in driving slowed down considearably:  with hands or hands free.  This was according to the study of David Strayer of Univesity of Utah that using cp while driving is equivalent to have alcohol leve of .08, or equivalent to having a screwdriver (vodka with orange juice)

The best advice you can give to someone who wants to continue texting even hands free while driving "Would you care if your Doctor texted hands free while operating on  you?" Published in New England Journal of Medicine in 2010

Slow down and respect others by doing so. As you exercise your leadership take note of the following guides:

l.  Stop and relax for a few minutes to visualize how your day will flow;  plan - what are urgent, important, what to delegate, what to do yourself

2.  Think and pause before you react to the situation

3.  Maybe you could just listen to somebody instead of just talking to them

4.  Encourage dialog:  what are we doing well, what must we do to encourage excellence, to foster tighter teamwork

Are Leaders Born or Made? There is a Leadership gene discovered!!

 From Irish Times| January 15, 2013

There is a nagging question that does not seem to have an answer (as with entrepreneurs): are leaders, born, made or is situational?

A genotype known as rs 43950 was discovered by a group of scientists led by Dr.  Jan -Emmanuelle de Neve from University College of London. The sample investigated were supervisory roles of some 4,000 individuals.  The genotype were seen to be passed down to generation.  The study will appear online at Leadership Quarterly

So what do we do about our leadership:  can we develop this, or are we born with this?

Issue # 155 - January 15, 2013
Dear Jorge,

After last Tuesday's newsletter about leverage, I had a lot of people send in a question similar to this one:

Denise, you talked about how important it is for me to delegate to other people.  But how do I find a good assistant for a price I can actually afford?

The good news is that with today's global economy, nearly everyone can afford to hire an assistant.  There is an abundance of talented people willing to work for you to help you grow your business.

So for today's Main Essay, I'd like to share four secrets that you can use to hire an awesome virtual assistant for a very affordable rate, and the simple processes you can use to double your productivity in the process.

In the Check It Out section, you will learn about the 3 fatal mistakes that can cause your business to fail faster than a controlled demolition.

We hope you enjoy this issue of the Thriving Business Newsletter.

Cheers,

4 Secrets To Doubling Your Productivity With A Virtual Assistant
By Denise Gosnell

Many small business owners try to do everything themselves, either because they can't afford to hire an assistant, or because they think that no one else can do the task as well.

The problem with this approach is that you will be pulled in too many directions and will never be able to make significant progress in the areas that will truly grow your business.

Luckily for you, there is a way you can get more productivity in the workplace and take some of the work off of your plate - hire a virtual assistant.

A virtual assistant is someone who can assist you in your business operations remotely from a virtual office. They generally use their own computer and can do various types of computer and phone tasks that do not require their physical presence in your office.

It may seem like a virtual assistant would be more distracted due to not being in the office, but you will be surprised to learn how much they can double your productivity and eliminate the constant multi-tasking you find yourself currently doing.

In the rest of this article, I'll share 4 secrets on how you can hire a great virtual assistant for very affordable rates, and the simple processes you can use to double your productivity in the process.

Secret #1 – Make A Commitment To Start Delegating Things Others Could Easily Do

As a business owner, you should not be doing things that you can assign to others. Your time is too valuable to spend wasting it on easy tasks any intelligent person can do. Once you understand that, you can then commit to giving those easy tasks to somebody else.

Here are a few examples of the types of tasks you should consider delegating (and that someone in a remote location could do for you):

  • Various types of research
  • Managing email
  • Travel arrangements
  • Social networking (ex. blog posting, commenting and linking, social media)
  • Database entries
  • Bookkeeping
As you begin delegating some of these tasks to virtual assistants, you will be surprised to learn just how much more of your time you will retain each week.

Secret # 2 – Find An Awesome Virtual Assistant Without Spending A Fortune

You don't have to spend a fortune to hire a virtual assistant.  People from all over the world are willing to work for you from their homes.

Here are some of the best places to find virtual assistants:

  • Elance.com
  • Onlinejobs.ph
  • Freelancer.com
  • Fiverr.com
When you first contact someone who posted a resume, or post your own job listing, make sure you give each person specific instructions for how to respond to your open position if they are interested.  Include something that will allow you to see that they actually followed your instructions, such as using a certain subject line in their email if they're interested.

Then, for the top 2-3 candidates, give them each a small "test" task first (that you will pay them for) so you can see how they perform.  You should give all 3 of them the same task, so you can compare how well each of them did.  You can then hire the one that you like the best.

Secret # 3 – Hire The Virtual Assistant As An Independent Contractor

You will want to make sure and hire the virtual assistant as an independent contractor, assuming that they meet the criteria for being an independent contractor.  The benefit to working with contractors is that they pay their own taxes to the government agencies.  And you also do not have to give benefits to your contractors, such as health, medical, dental, vacation.

Generally, if the virtual assistant uses their own equipment, sets their own work hours, and works independently from their own location, they can meet the criteria of being a contractor.  That is far easier than bringing someone on as an official employee of your business.

If you do end up hiring a virtual assistant as an independent contractor, make sure you have them sign a Professional Services Agreement that spells out the terms.

One of the most important terms to have in such an agreement is a transfer of intellectual property, so you will obtain ownership of the work product that you hire them to create for you.  We have a sample professional services agreement posted here on our web site.

Secret # 4 – Start Delegating To Your New Assistant Using A Project Tracking System

Once you have hired your new virtual assistant, make sure you use a consistent process and/or software system for delegating and tracking their progress on the tasks.

For example, at Thriving Business we use a software program called Basecamp.  It is easy to organize projects into Basecamp, and to track the complete history of the project.

What I like best about Basecamp is that it allows you to reply to projects from email, but also captures the email reply into the proper project thread.  So once the project has been created in Basecamp, you can view updates and give your feedback to the assistant through email without having to log in.

When you combine hiring a virtual assistant with these secrets, you should have no problem doubling your productivity. If you don't believe me, give it a try, and see for yourself!

If you don't take my advice about delegating, just be aware that you are making a critical mistake that will stall your growth and make your life much harder.

Speaking of mistakes...

Your Thriving Business Assignment

If you truly want to use your valuable time wisely and focus on the critical tasks that only you can do, make sure you fully leverage one or more virtual assistants. Here are some tips to get you started:

1.  Commit to giving easy tasks anybody can do to a virtual assistant.

2.  Find an inexpensive virtual assistant at websites such as eLance.com, Onlinejobs.ph, and Fiverr.com.

3.  Hire them as an independent contractor in order to save you time and money.

4.  Assign and manage the projects you give to them using a project tracking system.

Living a Better Life

When I struggled with anxiety, I eventually learned that the only way to change things was one breath at a time. Slow and deep, inhale through the nose and down into the belly, and then slowly out through the mouth, making sure to exhale fully. Starting there, with that one simple step on my to-do list, I was able to turn things around physiologically and psychologically.

Today, one of my best friends and an incredible leader in the fitness industry, Bedros Keuilian gives you a simple, proven, and powerful blueprint to living a better life.

Craig Ballantyne

Get rid of that negative self-talk. Change your mindset to one where you truly believe in yourself.

Good News

By Bedros Keuilian

All too often we forget what we should remember and we remember what we should forget.

It's officially 2013, and whether you hit your goals for 2012 or you missed them by a mile - forget them.

If you did hit your goals in 2012, that's great, but it's not going to do you a lot of good in 2013.

And if you missed your goals for 2012, then dwelling on that fact isn't going to help you make 2013 any better.

Forget about 2012 all together.

It's a brand new year and you have a brand new opportunity to make a massive impact in your community, in your business and on your personal development.

But I sincerely hope you didn't make any resolutions this year.

I just looked up some stats on New Year resolutions and found some interesting facts that confirmed my suspicions.

First off, only 45% of people make resolutions.

Within the first week, 25% have already broken their resolution.

By six months nearly 60% have fallen off the wagon - the rest are unaccounted for.

Those aren't reassuring facts.

But this is something we can ignore. Here's why.

This is a list of the Top Ten Resolutions made for 2013 are:
  1. Lose Weight
  2. Getting Organized
  3. Spend Less, Save More
  4. Enjoy Life to the Fullest
  5. Staying Fit and Healthy
  6. Learn Something Exciting
  7. Quit Smoking
  8. Help Others in Their Dreams
  9. Fall in Love
  10. Spend More Time with Family
These should NOT be resolutions, they should be a way of life. That list of top ten resolutions should really be called...

The Ten Common Sense Commandments to Living a Better Life.

Everyone should just be doing this stuff, don't you think?

It breaks my heart to think that people make these resolutions only to break them at an alarming rate - losing further hope.

But instead we continue to make resolutions, more like spontaneous proclamations of how we want the future to look, only to fall short because resolutions give you a false sense of preparedness.

Resolutions are a complete and total waste of time.

That's my expert opinion.

Simply saying that you want to be "more organized" in 2013 isn't going to magically make you more productive, increase your self-discipline or make you better at time
management.

You might as well wish for a pink unicorn because the odds of getting that are just as good.

Resolutions don't work. So if you have them, just forget about them now. Just stop.

I will tell you what does work and how you can achieve anything you want to achieve in 2013.

Ready for some good news?

Set goals.

I know, I know, that's not profound. You were probably expecting something deeper than just "set goals."

But the fact is, goal setting works, almost every time, if done right...

....and that's what I want to teach you.

So let's go with #2 there on that list above - get more organized.

If your goal was to get more organized, then reverse engineer what the outcome would be.

In this case it would be to get all of your daily tasks done efficiently and on time.

It would mean that you'd have to be better at time management and productivity.

That's your outcome. In other words, if you were good with time management and productivity, and if you got all of your tasks done on time and efficiently, then someone might look at you and say, "by God, this person is really organized."

So how wound you go about meeting this goal on a daily basis?

You'd start each day with a list; an actual paper list with your things to do on it.

If you have long term items like create a follow along fitness program online then that's not something that's going to get done in one day.

For big task items like that you'd set a deadline, and then each day you'd work on a thing or two that keeps you on track to meet your deadline.

How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.

Now, the things on your "to do" list should be in order of importance.

If you were organized, you'd ruthlessly guard your time and put your list first. No Facebook, no emails, no twitter or Youtube, and no checking the text messages or voice mails.

You'd set a time when you'd do your list (ideally first thing in the morning, right after a workout), and you'd plow through your list without giving into temptations of the things that can suck your time and productivity away.

You'd have your daily ritual and you'd stick to it.

Each and every weekday would look the same way.

For me, my list is to wake up, send out an email, hit Starbucks, get my workout in, go into my business headquarters, go through my list to things to do, and then come out of my cave and make myself available to my staff.

Then make my list of things to do for the next day and head home.

Nice, simple, routine.

I don't know what your goals are for 2013. But I can tell you that if you write them down, and reverse engineer what the outcome would look like, and you create new habits and then take action on your goals each day - you will achieve them 100% of the time.

I like those odds.

A New American Dream

Sometimes all it takes is joining a community of like-minded and motivated individuals to give you that push that you need to accomplish your goals.  That was just what Forest Vance needed to improve his internet business,"I still did more revenue in these three days than I usually do in an entire month with my internet business. And overall, I'll have my best month online ever by far. Most importantly, I learned a TON from the experience, and I know what I need to do grow my business and get where I want to be." If you want to build wealth, hang around wealthy people. If you want to stop smoking, hang around people that don't smoke. If you want to have a good relationship with God, hang around people that have a good relationship with God. If you want to be fit and healthy, hang around people that are fit and healthy. If you want to be a good person, hang around good people. They ARE out there. They WANT to help. Be there, and let them. You'll find these good people in the ETR Transformation Contest here.

Treasuries wipe out an entire year of yield ... in one week!

The culprit is inflation and blame it on too much money supply.  Who increases the money supply?

And who prints the money?   The Central Bank.

And who runs it?

(In the PHL the prescription by IMF was tight, very tight money supply and austerity.  More taxes and less public spending.)

In Europe, it is tight money supply.  That is why there are so many riots and protests.  In the US, it more money  - quantitative easing.  Who is right?

What do you think?

Treasuries wipe out an entire year of yield ...
in ONE, SHORT WEEK !
by Mike Larson

Dear Subscriber,
Martin D. Weiss, Ph.D.
Bonds are supposed to be the safest of safe investments. At least, according to many of the talking heads on Wall Street — but nothing could be further from the truth right now!
That's because long-term bonds have been driven to astronomically sky-high levels by the most reckless monetary policy in the history of the world ... which in turn has prompted the biggest influx of money into fixed income investments ever!
That pushes prices higher. And since yields move in the opposite direction of bond prices, they have collapsed to miniscule levels, dramatically raising the risk that months and months of income can be vaporized in the blink of an eye!
Just look at what happened
in the first week of 2013!

Long-term Treasuries lost roughly 3% of their value in only a few days. That was enough to wipe out an entire YEAR'S WORTH OF INTEREST, given the 3% yield on long-term bonds!
[Click chart for larger version]
Look, the world has been dog-piling like mad into bonds – Treasuries, mortgage bonds, junk bonds, emerging market bonds. We're talking about hundreds of billions of dollars in inflows, the biggest flood of money into bonds EVER.
As with just about every bubble over the past two decades, it's been prompted by reckless Federal Reserve policy. Just like the bubbles in dot-coms, housing, and other asset classes, it was always doomed to burst ...
And it's clear that we're seeing the classic signs that this bubble has already begun to burst right now!
This is critical: If an entire year's worth of interest can go up in smoke in just a few trading days, and if investors are exposed to that risk like never before, you can bet we're in for some seriously rocky times.
So be sure to watch these cyber-pages for more information on what you can do to protect yourself and even profit as this great bubble bursts in the days and weeks ahead!
Best wishes,
Mike Larson
