It is all about getting better
From Huffington Post
This article was written at about the time of the London Olympics. It states that when US sent 500 athletes to the Olympics, back home 7,000 high school students dropped out.
This article was written by Colin Powell, the former chief of staff during the time of Dessert Storm. He is the founder and Chair of America's Promising Alliance.
While everybody is talking about economy and competitiveness of USA, there is no doubt that education is the key to its long term competitiveness and leadership.
But the education statistics in USA does not win any gold medals: drop rate in high school is between 30 to 40%; graduation rate for high school is 75.5%
There is a need thus to focus on education and increase the number of graduates.
It is nice to know that in PHL there is a mushrooming of schools and learning centers. Many see education is the key to leaving poverty.
My experience in graduate school suggests similar numbers. Out of 33 enrolled students in the class, 4 did not comply with the attendance requirements; 5 did not submit the final paper.
My take on this:
l. Continue teaching and improve teaching methodologies;
2. Write blogs that educate;
3. Encourage employees to engage in lifelong learning
4. Feeding programs for elementary school children. in our areas of responsibility
