Despite Pnoys effort, we cant change the plight of masses, if they do not change their mindset

It is about getting better...

Rizal Philippines | July 31, 2014

Many remarked that despite the drum beating of the President in last Monday's State of the Nation Address, nothing has changed;  their lives are still the same and the government has not delivered.

What a narrow and wrong mindset.  If their mindset is still that the government/PNOY will do everything for them, that they are political dependents, then thats it.   Activists are fighting feudalism, and yet our bulk of population are still prisoners are prisoners of feudal mindset.

Are we really free

You cant change the world, Philippines if you cant change the yourself and your thinking

We will not improve if this the way our people think, and in that respect, our educational system;  our system of values has failed misereably.

Battle of the sexes: who is superior: men or women?

It is about getting better...

Rizal, Philippines  July 11, 2014

Nat Geos Brain games had this question and was was answered in a very interesting experiment.  There was paired comparison of men and women groups on the following:

1,   Color perception

2.  Spatial reasoning

3.  Following detailed instructions

4.  Remembering faces and names

5.  Spatial memory

The women were clear winners in:  color, detailed instruction, remembering names.    Men won in spatial reasoning, spatial memory

It was a tie.   Enough of the talk on battle of the sexes

Your brain, not your vision can lie to you

It is about getting better...

Nat Geo Brain Games

Which has greater sway on what you see?  Your brain or your eye?  This much  learned from Nat Geo brain games.

Our eye's fovea has only 1/10 of the retina area dedicated to the focus of the images seen, yet 1/3 of our brain is  dedicated to vision.

Our vision is governed by many visual cues:  shadows, background, past experience, peripheral vision.

For instance the Beughet chair, and Ames room can be used and has been used by psychologists to trick many people.  Magicians, and Mr. Apollo Robbins has shown the secret of many magic and tricks as seen on TV.  The lights, the decor are diversionary and deceptive.

What we see are not what they seem to be

How to avoid being scammed

It is about getting better...

Are you a sucker

Many people fall prey to scamming. Scamming at the internet is a $.5 billion crime.  There are 125,000,000 pranks/scam attempts daily at the internet.

How not to be victim:

1.  Trust but verify;  do not just give your credit card number

2.  Limit exposure  (avoid the internet, less exposure to scams and spams)

3.  Knowledge.  Know the Nigerian scams the pasa load exam, budol2 etc.  The more you know about the scam, the less you are fall prey.

How do get recognized as a leader?

Is it just ok to do your job, and that is it, eventually you will be recognized as a leader and be promoted?

False.  You must be recognized.

But isnt just tooting your horn,  or just like being a black bird  (a crow, always announcing its name?)

How do you develop leadership? By building relationship

From Lead Change group  by Joshua Uebergang   |  February 27, 2014

Leadership is about capturing the minds and hearts of followers/associates? It is not what people when you are there.  It about making the things that are to be done when you are not there

How do you do it?

1.  Go down to the experiential level

2.  Search for the emotion

3.  Relate to this

Change take place when you make the people feel good about themselves.

The myth of solo product designer/entrepreneur.

No man is an island, even for the gunslinger entrepreneur.

Almost all entrepreneurial ventures are put up by teams.  This the law of the big picture by John Maxwell.  Nothing gets done successfully anymore by the Lone Ranger.  You need an army, a battallion to win a battle.

The key words now are collaboration and cooperation.   An entrepreneurial venture needs an innovator, an organizer and implementor (somebody who executes the ideas)

The Rennaissance man is not enough to be a successful entrepreneur

Teams now work.

Corrosive qualities in employees that must be stopped

From Inc

People are important aspect of an organization.  People connect strategy and process. There could be no success without people.  However, some people are truly destructive and corrosive (like termites) no matter how you try.  They are simply not fit to work, or be part of the organization and must be removed from the bus at all cost.

Here are the types of employees that must be removed from the bus.

Many of the business problems are not due to lack of business skills and knowledge; often the culpriit is self mastery

It is about getting better...

Rizal  Philippines | February 12, 2014

Prof Jorge Entrep + Personal Mastery

In my experience and my observation of the many businesses that I was trying to turn around, the problem often is not with the business, nor the business processes.   The business ideas/concept are sound, the processes are sound, the best management skills, good methods are used, the owners are well educated in their chosen fields, and yet their businesses flounder?  What is the root cause?

It is not the content as Buddy Silva, one of the guest entrepreneurs I had at AGSB Iloilo;  it is the context.  It is the mindset and the attitude of the entrepreneur.  It is the lack of personal mastery that causes them to fail And yet these are not taught at the business schools.  That is why, I give undue emphasis on this at the entrep subject.   And this could not be subject of a content exam, nor a departmental exam that is being considered to be universal at this GSB soon

Increasing your productivity by Eban Pagan

Find out how you can increase your productivity or finding the money value of your time

You have to find the intersection between your strengths, what you can do best, your time application:  lifetime value, most dollar value for your time, least dollar value for your time, and negative (time waster)  When you are able to do this you will be able to focus and earn more.  Be more productive.

"How to get respect" from Craig Ballantyne

Repost from  New American Dream

We can get respect if we are wealthy or successful

How do you become successful?  Know more from Craig Ballantyne

"I want you to know I have a deep respect for you. Your success matters to me. I hope that you have all the success you want right now. But if you don't have the respect and prosperity you want, I want to help you get it.

We've all been there. Maybe it's being scared to check your bank balance. Or maybe it's avoiding the "how's work" conversation with your in-laws. But we've all had that sinking feeling of "not being good enough" one time or another.

You can change that, and I can help you do it."

Time to UNPLUG your phone!

We spend large amount of time on our phones.  I find it discourteous, that you drag yourself several hundred km to an appointment talking texting on their smarthpone while you are having a meeting.  It is rather unsocial and unnatural. We were not born with smarth phone.  And even in class.

I had a house rule that if your phone rings in the class, you will treat the entire class.

Happy healthy kids from Brian Tracy

Our children are our future.  Treat them well to be confident and they will rule the world, and lead our nation to progress.

There was a philosopher/poet, Khalil Gibran, who said that our "children are not our children"  They are people merely passing through time through us.  Do you agree?

How much have I improved in 2013 ( Personal Mastery)

It is about getting better...

January 1, 2014

New year is now 18 hours old.  How fast time flies.  366 days ago we had the same event.  I will soon be 63.

What did I improve last year:

1.  Health and fitness:

     1. I biked many long rides last year.  In January we biked to Baguio from Manila.  This was my 3rd ascent to Baguio, 2x from Manila.  I crashed during my first ride, not in Baguio but all ready in Manila - at Shangrila.  My bike's narrow tires got caught up in grating in the vicinity of Starbucks, I lost consciousness when I feel, and I had an operation to repair my broken nose bridge.  I biked with Recyclists to Tagaytay City (about l60 km) to Ternate  (196 km) and Lemery, Batangas.  These were long and hard rides.  That meant I had endurance.

     2.  I could ride with the peloton riding at 35 km plus.  I developed speed.   I could also ride about 50 km descending.

    3.  Strength.  Now I could ride on heavier gears even climbing hills.  It is easier for me now to use 50 x 15 gears going up at 20+  kph.  Formerly, I needed 34 or 39 x 25 gears to ride up
