This is about personal strategic planning.  Just like any strategy, you must determine your values and mission in life.  Without that you are rudderless, lighthouse less individuals, and just like the proverbial shrimp, the current will just carry you anywhere.

Having determined your sub objectives, you determine your programs, your action plans to arrive at your desired goals destination.

In my entrep class, I ask students to fill up a learning agreement, which is a personal strategic planning.  Before you run a business, you must steer first yourself to success and know you own strategy.

Diana Nyad 64 year old (senior) completed the historic 110 mile swim in 58 hours.  She has written several books and is a motivational speaker.  She kept on repeating:  "Do not ever ever quit"

It is historic because she did not use a shark cage.  However,  faint electrical signals kept the shark at bay.

It is mind over matter thing;  it is about motivation. It is about I/me overcoming the physical limitations of age, distance and time.
