It is about getting better...
From Top Documentary Film
Bear Grylls, the top guy who has been fired by Discovery to continue doing the Man Vs. Wild Series, has inspired many on how to survive and like the outdoors. His guidance and lessons ar simple:
live off what you can find in the wild;
follow the river if you want to reach the civilization
food, shelter, fire are very important. Thus finding food, water, building shelter and fire are important skills to be learned.
Your objective is to survive: you key resource is yourself, the wild, a knife, and a device to build fire. And with that you can survive anywhere in the world: tropical rain forest, the Amazon, permafrost in Siberia, the Australian outback, the Grand Canyon in Arizona, the Sahara. etc/
Is should be Man and the Wild. You cant fight the wild. You have to partner with the wild.

"Secret of Survival"by former Navy Seal, sniper and instructor Cade Courtley
It is about getting better...
Seal Survival Guide
I saw the interview of Cade at Fox News and his book "Secret of Survival" was publicized. We do not have to be a victims; we can be proactive in any situation. Take the case of Bourne supremacy: when you enter a restaurant you observe:
where is the nearest exit;
how many males are there who can be possible. threat;
how many are left handed or right handed;
is there any potential weapon available.
This way you will not be surprised. Just as in the airplane. Listen and watch emergency briefing by the stewardess
Look for the nearest exit. It could mean the difference between life and death. Do not freeze in fear. You must be bold and brave as you encounter a crisis.

All colors and visual perceptions are sometimes unreal
It is about getting better...
From Nat Geo
Colors, sounds, and other things we sense are sometimes unreal. They are affected by our past experiences. The Brain Game feature that for example:
1. Shadow - if you are lit with magenta; two shadows come out, one magenta and the other green. There was no green spotlight; why do we have the green shadow.;
2. Shadows affect the color we see or the shade. Depending on the shadow, the gray object will appear dark or grey depending on the shadow because of our experience with shadow.
3. Objects appear larger or smaller in relation to the perception of horizon. Thus the parallel lines that converge at a distance can make objects larger or bigger.'
'
4. The outside world is actually bathed in white light. The colors are results of perception
5. We can actually jump into conclusion (akala ko?)
We must be aware of this influences as they affect our mindset, and our ability to be successful

Focus and attention from Nat Geo Brain games

Focus and attention from Nat Geo Brain Games
A good communication starts with FA - Focus and Attention. Without this, no stimuli will enter the mind of the learner, nor will learning occur. It is sometimes startling, that we miss so much or that magicians can fool us (using the principles of focus and attention) or that pickpockets can steal our wallet face to face, at close quarters and we would not.know.
Our brain power is limited; we use only 12 watts for our brain. Thus we can not see many things that the same time. Only things where we focus our attention to, can we see things clearly.
Several experiments were shown:
1. The background of Apollo Robins were changed 3x while he was explaining a trick or showing the money; we did not see what was going around;
2. In a presentation where we were asked to count the number of times the performers stepped on the circle, we did not see the penguin pass by;
3. Multi tasking really sucks. There is no such thing as multi tasking. Thus talking on the phone and talking about complex matters may lose your concentration focus. Thus 250,000 accidents happen a year, and 25,000 deaths from texting or talking on the phone while driving; A guy claiming he is a super multi tasker, in experiment by David Strayer showed he was just average
4. Although we know what can make us lose our focus and attention we cant fight this. There are two things that affect our attention: the decision (top down) and the sensory (bottoms up) Apollo Robbinss was able to steal four things using diversion (lose of focus) face to face at close quater

Diana Nyad, 64 year old completes the 58 hour, 110 mile swim from Havana Cuba to Florida without shark cage.
It is about getting better...
Repost from USA Today | September 2, 2013
Diana Nyad 64 year old (senior) completed the historic 110 mile swim in 58 hours. She has written several books and is a motivational speaker. She kept on repeating: "Do not ever ever quit"
It is historic because she did not use a shark cage. However, faint electrical signals kept the shark at bay.
It is mind over matter thing; it is about motivation. It is about I/me overcoming the physical limitations of age, distance and time.
