Be better than before, than yesterday...

Dont have a reactive drift.  When there is no direction, everything becomes a crisis and every thing in your brain in using brain power.  The moment you write it down, the brain stops reacting.  And you become more focussed and discplined. 

Too much productivity system, apps, confuses you and stops you from being more productive.  

Write it down and focus on 3-5 things you will do every day...

The Toyotas elders sold the machines for weaving  to a foreign company.    An automatic machine.  That stops when there is thread breakage.  The amount earned was worth a fortune.  But Sakiichi gave his son not the money but the idea the philosophy behind a weaving company.  And that made Toyota the most reliable car..   Principle philosophy is more stable than money

The idea behind the loom - fix problem, no wastage,

Cant still leave this earth; more teaching from problems; people whom you thought ready arent

Be better than before, than yesterday...

One project seem to be going south.   I worked so hard to turn this over to a protege.  But he could not produce result the full dp despite giving him all the support.  At a meeting I discovered that we are not in agreement with business, leadership and management principles.  

Now I had to meet with the principal and agree negotiate with the exit....  Am disappointed and saddened.  

Now I know better.  Better hands on with big deals.   The underlings cant be trusted yet.   

Continue thinking believing, and motivating others, self

An individual I have been guiding motivating ran into problems (where to get his funding -  his supporters did not make true their commitments) and looked exhausted and helpless  But this post reminded of the great wealth that comes to him and what he has is rare opportunity.  But examining his resources, he has lots:

     1.  His receivables from a contract has not been forthcoming because he accepted the wrong

          computation of his billing, 

    2.  He has retention for collection;

    3.  Then found out that one of the partners has receivables still 10 years old, and we can discount                      future receivables.

Never ever2 quit, believing...

Chinese work culture

There a lots of reels/shorts on soc media about how Chinese treat in laws, employees, and abusive supervisors who mistreat their staff:   collect bribes for being employed, asks them to submi proposals and then take credit.   Then about parents:    driving away parents due to wifes insistence, or favoring  other children

Of course, they could be part of the silen warfare by the Chinese PLA vs the west to project that they are kind and good.  

But whose side are you on? 

I am on the side of right, fairness, and also kindness.

I would be fair and jsut rather than kind.  

Money can disappear, but the ability to create wealth remains forever

It is a common story that just when the old man or woman is to die, the heirs quarrel as to who gets the lion share of the inheritance.   Quarrels arise.  If there is no quarrel, the heirs surely have taken up the MBA on how to squander and dissipate the wealth that took so hard for the parents to gather and grow.

So there was story of father who gave his eldest son one cow;   the other one, a hundred cows plus a dairy.  Of course the eldest was aghast on his one cow gift from his father.   So the father said you will see that I gave you a better inheritance ie how to build wealth.  Thus the eldest milked the cows, sold the milk ot neighbors saved the money, then bought more cows.  Eventually he bought more cows and eventually had a dairy.  The younger one of course simply enjoyed the wealth and eventually lost his money.  

So would you prefer the inheritance of experience and knowledge how to build wealth?

Over estimating the capabilities of understudy/protege

Be better than before, than yesterday...

This post did two people decision blunders... I overestimated.  While overestimating promotes positive vibes and promote growth,  such reality when they bite can halt growth and result in disaster.

1.   One concerned a top position to head a business unit.  He lacked leadership and was unable to act on other concerns like negotiation, finance, documentation and on time management.  He did not act fast and was unable to ascertain the urgent and important

2.   One was candidate for financial controller.  She was lazy did not act fast, was not reliable and was unable to understand the chores of a financial controller although she represented herself to be one.

One has to ask difficult question from the candidate and ascertain in the interview whether she /he understands you and the task at hand...

Always bring something for social gathering, especially for a business meeting - MEDAL(a)

This post noted elsewhere that when invited to a social gathering, especially where you want to establish business ties, it pays to bring a gift, or something to share for that occasion:     wine, fresh fruits,  pancit, fried chicken in a barrel.  Its a no no to just come with bare hands and feet.

I remember we had a midwife agent before and she always brought something for the kids whenever she visited the house -  candies, biscuits what not.

Its taught in business school.  This establishes bond, a connection which the other party may not forget.   It gives you an image of leadership, generosity, and high stature

They must be grateful remembering my achievements/legacy

They say that when you do not have money you  have problem with scarcity.   If you have plenty even more problems...

One of the reasons whey I aspired to be an entrepreneur was to lift our family out of poverty... specifically so as not to let my brods and sis suffer poverty as I did while growing up.  My father was a laborer,  My mother was a washer woman and jacks of all trade.

However, as the family accumulated wealth (through my efforts) the tides turned.   After I distributed the wealth among the siblings after all my parents died, the 4 other sibilings conspired to remove me from th organization.   Over the last 3 decades, I was invited to join board meetings, and worse, they removed me from GIS and lately they have been changing corps reorganizing maybe to remove my 20% share surreptitiously....

Yesterday, they reopned the mall which this post started.   Was not invited.   Erasing my achievements from history.  This is historical revisionism at its best...  Talk about gratitude.   God bless them all.  More power to them....
