Top 100 Global CEO - HBR project

From Harvard Business Review 100 best performing CEOs in the world

This is a project by HBR to study the performance of worlds leading CEO.  This includes S &P executives and  from BRIC 40 lists and this makes the study truly global.   The pool selection increased from 1999 to 3143.   The criteria has been on long term performance of the CEO rather than meeting Wall St. expection of Q or H income projections.

The top l00 CEOs delivered total returns of l,385% or $40 billion during their tenure, compared to those  at the bottom of the list who delivered -57% return and a loss of $13.6 billion.

Steve Jobs although now deceased is on top of the list.  He is responsible for increasing market cap of Apple by $359 billion or roughly 35% increase in earnings annually.  Apple stocks became the most valuable stock reaching a peak of $600+ billion in one trading day.  He is followed by Jeff Bezos of Amazon who jumped from No. 7.

Roughly l.9% of the top CEOs are female.  At the very top of the list for female is the embattled CEO of HP, Meg Whitman. She used to be CEO of Ebay. She was # 9 then
