Reverse thinking can unlock your mind to success

Be better than before, than yesterday..

This can be likened to Lateral Thinking by Edward de Bono. Ot thinking out of the box  They now call it reverse thinking.  This is thinking off the beaten path or the road often taken  You employ another approach on the problem.  As it were reverse engineer the thinking process and therefore arrive at a more brilliant solution

Most innovation comes from problems, from what pisses you off.  And the solutions may be brilliant and can come from reverse thinking

Lateral thinking - stop rescuing, start preventing

It is about getting better...

The focus of NDRRMC has been on rescue.   Relief and rescue operations.

Why not practice lateral thinking.    Dont think of rescue.  Think of preventing events to be one of rescue.  Think of measures to prevent disaster from happening:

    1.  After receiving news of a typhoon,
         1.  Evacuate the residents to high less flood prone areas
         2.  Prepare the rescue boats dinghies  and food stuff, water

    2.  Better still remove the residents from geohazard.   We cant do this because it entails political risk

    3.  Install flood mitigating measures:     soaking gardens, flood plains, giant cistern, gates vs tides and
         storm surges.

We know of one company who solved its collection problems by not collecting.  No more collectors going house to house who were being robbed or embezzling collection.  How?  They put up a sister collection company who also makes money from collecting other company's receivable.   Bayad Center.  Solved

How to find bigger and better ideas from INC

From Inc.5000 by Kevin Daun | January 25, 2013

Most of the time, when confronted by a problem, the solution is often limited by parameters of the problem solving process.  Very seldom do teams go on expansive or integrative (or even strategic approach).  It is just problem solving  or functional areas thinking.  It is thinking within the box  (Consider Lateral thinking by Edward de Bono

Some suggestions:

1.  Set aside a time for problem solving and creativity.  Use the entire time.  (Maybe do it in the evening when the right brain is functioning more)

2.  Encourage outside learning (from the internet, from seminars etc)

3.  Reward expansive thinking
