Business and olympics re both challenge to human desire motivation to excel and to exceed ourselves.

Why is it a big business?

Since millions and probably billions want to watch Olympics in their lifetime it churns a lot of business:   ads for exposure to the world, sports equipment and clothing (big business) photo equipment, gadgets, ;    travel, hotels, tourism.   Investments.
